Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN Psychiatric for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Job Posting Summary
Position: Psychiatric RN
Shift: 12-hour Nights , Every Other Weekend (EOW), First to Float
Location: CHI Health Facility
Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 days)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Trauma Level: Level II
Licensure: Active RN license for the state 
Radius Rule: Must live outside 50 miles   Certifications Required

• BLS (AHA) – Required
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) – Preferred
• CHI Health Workplace Violence Prevention Training – Required

Unit Details

• Department: Psychiatry
• Unit Type: Inpatient Acute Psych (Adolescents & Adults)
• Beds: 25 licensed, currently using 9 (3 Adult, 6 Adolescent)
• Locked Unit: Yes, 4th floor

• Float: May float hospital-wide as 1:1 or helping hands

   

Patient Population & Care Details

• Common Diagnoses:
  • Depression, anxiety
  • Substance abuse (ETOH, drugs)
  • Psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia
  • Rare opioid withdrawal
• Nurse:Patient Ratios:
  • Adult: 3:1 (can go up to 7:1)
  • Adolescent: 6:1
• Mental Health Techs: 1-2 depending on census
• Restraints: Rare mechanical restraints and seclusion

• IVs: Very rare, not required skill

   

Experience Requirements

• Must Have:
  • Acute/inpatient psychiatric experience
  • De-escalation & strong communication skills
• Preferred:
  • Adolescent psych experience
  • First-time travelers OK

Scheduling & Expectations

 

• Weekends & Holidays: Every other required
• Call/Standby: None
• Patient Rounding: Required every 15 mins
• Physical presence: Active, involved care expected – not desk-based
